The Summer Scholars program funds Tufts undergraduates to pursue ten-week independent research projects in which each student works closely with a faculty mentor to create a poster that s/he will present at a poster session in the fall. Summer Scholars then present the next stage of their research at a public forum on campus. Often, the summer project will culminate in the student’s
Senior Honors Thesis.
The application consists of the following sections:
- A series of short-answer questions
- A 1-2 page CV or resume
- A copy of your transcript(s)
- A brief abstract, in accessible language, free from jargon or acronyms (100 words or fewer)
- A 750-word project proposal that you author yourself
- A letter of collaboration, co-authored with your faculty mentor
- Fine arts applicants should create a shared folder in Box and add emily.palermo@tufts.edu. Please include 5-10 examples of your work in PDF or JPG format or as links to 3-5 minute video pieces.
- Two letters of recommendation, sent directly to scholardevelopment@tufts.edu. Neither letter can come from your faculty member or someone directly associated with your lab. One of these letter must come from a Tufts faculty member.
Eligibility:
- Tufts undergraduates who will be enrolled as juniors or seniors in the fall of 2025.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
Students and faculty are each limited to one application.
