Projects for Peace 2025

Thank you for submitting this internal Tufts application for 100 Projects for Peace. We're excited to see your proposal. Tufts will use this information to select 1-2 nominees to send to the Projects for Peace team at Middlebury College, which will then make the final selection. Proposals are due January 27, 2025 and expected to be enacted in the Summer of 2025!

Please carefully review these FAQs before completing this form.

Students must be enrolled at Tufts at the time of application and nomination; U.S. or international students are eligible; Students may be of any age, any major, or any year in school: this includes seniors who intend to complete their projects in the summer after graduation. Students may implement the project alone or with others; The project may take place anywhere in the world, including in the U.S.

Proposals will be scored by the Tufts committee on the basis of (1) clarity and rigor of the project plan, (2) qualifications and assets of the student(s) and partner(s); (3) potential for impact on peace; (4) clarity and relevance of budget.






Please upload a project proposal. 

Length: up to two pages. Margins: Top 1” Bottom 1” Right 1” Left 1” Font: Arial 10 pt.

At the top, please list the following information:
  • Title of Project
  • Country where project will be implemented
  • Sponsoring College (Tufts)
  • Designated Project Leader name along with full list of student team members. For each student named, please list:
  • a. home country
  • b. college/university
  • c. Link to an associated project blog or website, if applicable.

Suggested topics to cover in the letter:

  • Project summary: What issue(s) will be addressed? What approach(es) will be used? With whom will the grantee(s) work? What is the rationale for these choices? 

    Background: What is your working definition of peace? What preceded this proposal in terms of personal experience, forming relationships, developing knowledge, and other preparation? 

    Implementation: What plans have been made for use of funds, use of time, and contingencies? 

    Anticipated Results: What are the potential short and long-term outcomes for participants, community collaborators, and grantee(s)? How will progress be monitored? How will the project contribute to peace?


We particularly welcome proposals that show evidence of the following: 
 
An innovative approach to the issue(s); 

Appreciation for and sensitivity to the context, communities, and/or cultures where the project takes place; 

Consideration of the dilemmas, challenges, or conflicts that may underlie the targeted issues or selected approaches; 

Consideration of sustainability and/or scalability of the approach; 

Critical self-awareness by the grantee.

Note that normally, funds are disbursed to the student lead, who must retain receipts and file a final budget report with 100 Projects for Peace. If you prefer a different arrangement, that would have to be worked out in advance with Tufts.
