Graduate Student Travel Fund

Each year, graduate students in the School of Engineering travel to professional conferences, both within the United States and abroad, to present their research to colleagues in their respective fields. Travel funding for these graduate student trips is made possible by the Graduate Student Travel Fund. FAST TRAC students may apply for travel funding using this survey, they will be funded separately.

Eligible students may apply for an annual award of either:
  • up to $600 to present their work at a conference or professional meeting, or
  • up to $300 to attend a conference or professional meeting without presenting.

Funding is limited, and applications are reviewed on a first-come first-serve basis. Students are encouraged to apply early and may apply before acceptance to the conference to receive tentative funding contingent upon confirmation of their acceptance and attendance. The Graduate Student Travel Fund for presenting research at a conference is sponsored by the School of Engineering, and the funding to attend a conference is sponsored by the Graduate Student Council.

Funding will be awarded on the following schedule:
Round 1: October 15th Deadline to apply for funding of conferences occurring July to December 31.
Round 2: Application starts for Round 2 on October 15th, and February 15th is the deadline to apply for funding of conferences occurring January to June 30.

Applications received after the deadlines will be waitlisted until after the next deadline, and processed in order of receipt.

Please apply before your conference date, otherwise your application may be denied, or waitlisted until after the next round of funding has been awarded.

Awards are processed in monthly batches on the 5th of the month. After you submit this application, please wait until after the 5th day of the next month for a response before contacting our office for the status, enggradstudies@tufts.edu.

The form must be submitted by the deadlines listed above, and at least two weeks before the conference begins (exceptions will only be made for conferences in July through September).
